Happy 4,000,000th Land Rover!!!

This is a sign that I'm truly bored and will do anything at all to keep my mind busy. People can say "Sheiban, why not a Jays game?" or "Sheiban, why not extend your trip for a little while"? I don't want to go to a Jays game because the Jays suck, and I don't want to extend my trip because then it'll feel like I'm living in Europe, and I would rather live in Europe when I have that amazing career as the intrepid F1 team boss (As if that's ever gonna happen!).

So, anyways, I was reading the Beeb, and there was a story about Land Rover producing their 4 millionth vehicle, with statistics saying that around 80% of them are still being used, since they started being built in 1948. If anything, that's probably the most reliable SUV and probably more reliable than a Renault! I have fond memories of the Land Rover. It was the vehicle of choice for family in Iran, and everytime I rode on it, it was an adventure because they were so high off the ground, and the noise that the engine made made you feel like you were in command of the desert!

Another interesting memory I have of the Land Rover is of the one parked near my late grandparents' house. Since as far back as I can remember (The first time I was in Iran was when I was 2), there was this Land Rover parked in the same exact spot, and when my mother went to Iran last time in December 2006 for the funeral of my grandmother, the Land Rover was still there. That Land Rover has been parked in the same spot for at least 20 years!

The tires aren't flat, it's just sinking into the pavement, the paint is coming off, but there's no rust. If it weren't for the popped out headlights and the missing radiator, it would have been in good shape to drive away, but man, what a car. I'm raising my diet coke to Land Rover tonight for making an amazing vehicle that still runs after almost 60 years in the business! I may be anti-SUV, but this was an SUV made for any land and wasn't simply a family car on steroids!
