Paris Hilton sent to jail and my opinion...

I've tried to simply ignore this story and get on with life, but I keep seeing this posted everywhere. Paris Hilton, the hotel heiress, socialite, and modern day sex toy has been arrested for violating her probation and driving drunk and all that jazz! It's causing a lot of buzz because Paris will be leaving her mansion and going to an area the equivalent of her brain, one cell! She has a crack team of lawyers who are doing anything and everything to have her avoid prison.

Hilton is now blaming her assistant for not explaining her probation and other things. I'm just wondering how hard it is to explain to a person that their license is suspended, they cannot drive drunk, and they have to have their headlights on at night. It's simple, and it takes little to no explanation.

Her mother is being outspoken about this, and her attitude is that her daughter, nor anyone else should be touched by the law, even if they put a number of people in danger, because, after all, they're rich and they're not supposed to be going to jail or to be in court for these things. Just look up the attitude that Kathy Hilton took in the courtroom during the sentencing.

That is what agitates me. The fact that they believe they are above the law is just stupid. This is not the feudal era anymore, everybody is the same under the law whether you are the rich billionaire or the homeless guy on the street. If you have a jail sentence, pay your debt to society and move on, don't complain that because you're wealthy (Which is essentially what Paris Hilton is using), you don't get a "get out of jail free" card.

Another thing that annoys me is the online petition calling on the governor of California to allow her to be released because she "made a mistake" and "should be pardoned". I would boycott this petition, and I would ask anyone who reads this to boycott the petition as well, because as a member of society, she should pay her debt, and not simple get a slap on the wrist because she is a celebrity. It's only 45 days, take it and go, stop making a big deal about it. There are far worse things in the world happening in the world right now. Don't sign the petition, let her go to jail, let her learn her lesson.
